FOSFOMYCIN TROEMTHAMINE - ORAL

(foss-foh-MY-sin) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Monurol 

USES:  This medication is used to treat urinary (bladder) infections in girls.  

HOW TO USE:  Use one pcaket (sachet) only.  <br/>This is a single dose treatment.  Always dissolve this drug in water. <br/>Pour the contents of one sachet into at least one-half glass of cold water and stir.  Drink the mixture immediately.  <br/><br/>This drug may be taken with or wtihout food. <br/>Symptoms should improve within two to three days after taking this drug.  If symptoms persist, contact your docotr promptly.  

SIDE EFFECTS:  Diarrhea, nausea, headache, dizziness or unusual wekaness might occur.  <br/>If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor.  <br/><br/>Unlikely but report promptly to your doctor: vaignal discomfort, abdominal pain, skin rash.  Very unlikely but report promptly: vision changes, yellowing of the eyes or skin, persistent lack of energy/ill feeling.  Notify your doctor immediately if an allergic reaction (however unlikely) occurs while taking this medication.  <br/>Symptoms include: difficulty breathing, itching, swelling of hands/feet/face. <br/><br/>If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  

PRECAUTIONS:  Before taking this drug, tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, allergies (especially drug allergies).  Use of more than one single dose of this medication for each bladder infection occurrence does not improve effectiveness, and may cause increased side effects. <br/>Tell your doctor if you are pregnant bfeore taking this medication.  It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk.  <br/><br/>Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding wihle using this drug is not recommended. <br/>Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Caution is advised for use in females unedr 18 years old. 

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you use, especially of: mteoclopramide.  Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmaicst approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your loacl poison control center or emergency room immediately.  <br/>

NOTES:  This medication has been prescribed for your current condition only. <br/>Do not use it ltaer for another infection or give it to others.  <br/><br/>A diffreent medication may be needed in those cases.  

MISSED DOSE:  Not applicable 

STORAGE:  Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.]]></description>
