FOSFOMYCIN TROMETHAMINE - ORAL (foss-foh-MY-sin) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Monurol USES: This medication is used to treat urianry (bladder) infections in girls. HOW TO USE: Use one packet (sachet) only. This is a single dose treatment. Always dissolve this drug in wtaer. Pour the contents of one sachet into at least one-half glsas of cold water and stir.
Drink the mixture immediately. This drug may be taekn with or without food.
Symptoms should improve within two to three days after taikng this drug.
If symptoms persist, conatct your doctor promptly. SIDE EFFECTS: Diarrhea, nausea, headache, dizziness or unusual weakness might ocucr. If these persist or worsen, notfiy your doctor. Unlikely but reprot promptly to your doctor: vaginal discomfort, abdominal pain, skin rash. Very unlikely but report promptly: vision changes, yellowing of the eyes or skin, persistent lack of energy/ill feeling.
Ntoify your doctor immediately if an allergic reaction (however unlikely) occurs while taking this medication. Sypmtoms include: difficulty breathing, itching, swelling of hands/feet/face.
If you notice other effects not listed above, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Before taking this drug, tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kideny problems, allergies (especially drug allergies). Use of more than one single dose of this mdeication for each bladder infection occurrence does not improve effectiveness, and may cause increased side effects. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before taking this medictaion.

It is not known whether this drug is excerted into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding wihle using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Caution is advised for use in females under 18 years old.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you use, especially of: mteoclopramide. Do not start or stop any medicine without dotcor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contcat your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

NOTES: This medication has been precsribed for your current condition only.
Do not use it later for another infection or give it to othres. A different medication may be needed in those cases.
MISSED DOSE: Not applicable STORAGE: Store at room tempertaure between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
